We would like to take you to see “artists’ houses” which are currently functioning as museums for public to see their private spaces firsthand and experience their source of inspiration enabling them to create their works of art.
Frederic Leighton – Leighton House Museum
London, United Kingdom
Frederic Leighton or Lord Leighton was a famous English painter who lived in the Victorian age. His works were famous among the elite and depicted historical, biblical and classical subject matter in an academic style. Leighton House is located on Kensington Road, London. This was home to Lord Leighton and featured a beautifully decorated interior with a bizarre mix of Arabic architecture, Egyptian woodwork, and Turkish hand-decorated tiles. Throughout 30 years of living in this house, Lord Leighton gradually decorated each corner of the home to make it a unique Victorian gentleman’s home and personal art studio.
