Bangkok offers a unique culinary experience where the city’s rich heritage is preserved within magnificent mansions, now transformed into fine-dining destinations. These iconic venues, once private residences or official buildings, now invite diners to savor Thai and international cuisines amid captivating history and architecture.

1. Baan Dusit Thani

A legacy reborn through taste and tradition.

Opened in 2019, Baan Dusit Thani is a standalone destination honoring the legacy of the original Dusit Thani Bangkok, which operated from 1970 to 2019. This beautifully restored pre-WWII mansion, Sala Daeng House, is nestled on a 4.5-rai estate in the heart of Saladaeng—right behind the newly reopened Dusit Thani Bangkok.

Meticulously renovated by PIA Interior, the historic white mansion retains its original charm while accommodating today’s creative and culinary needs. The estate now serves as a lush garden sanctuary in the city, offering reimagined signature restaurants from the original hotel: Benjarong (Thai cuisine), Thien Duong (Vietnamese), Dusit Gourmet (café and bistro), and Nómada Bangkok (South American fusion), a sister to the brand’s Hua Hin location.

A living museum in itself, Baan Dusit Thani also features original furnishings and décor from the former hotel, artfully integrated into the space to celebrate its heritage.

2. Blue Elephant Bangkok

A global icon of Thai cuisine in a colonial mansion.

Founded by Master Chef Nooror Somany Steppe, Blue Elephant is a world-renowned name in Thai fine dining. Originating in Brussels in 1980, the brand expanded globally before returning home with the opening of its Bangkok branch in 2002, followed by Phuket in 2010.

3. The House on Sathorn

An epicurean landmark in the heart of Bangkok’s business district.

Set against the backdrop of W Bangkok’s gleaming tower, The House on Sathorn is a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion offering both historic charm and modern sophistication. Built in 1899 as a private residence, the mansion later served as a hotel and the Russian Embassy before being reborn in 2015 through a meticulous restoration by award-winning firm AvroKO.

Today, it’s home to Paii, a modern Thai seafood restaurant known for its refined menu and striking setting. During the day, guests can indulge in Paii’s Afternoon Tea, a curated selection of sweet and savoury treats served with TWG teas, freshly brewed coffee, or Champagne.
