Step back in time with a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride through Lampang, once a bustling trading hub of the Lanna Kingdom. Begin your cultural journey by visiting the ancient temple of Khelang Nakhon to pay respects and seek blessings. Afterwards, unwind at the former Lampang governor’s residence, now turned into a stylish café, where you can indulge in a menu that blends sweet and savory flavors from bygone eras, all served amidst charming surroundings. As night falls, immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of Kad Kong Ta, a historical commercial district that preserves Lampang’s architectural heritage. Lampang’s allure lies in its historical charm and modern vitality, just 120 kilometers from the bustling city of Chiang Mai.

Morning:

Ride horse carriage to explore the Lampang city and pay respect to a revered temple

What is better than starting your morning by immersing yourself in the history and spirituality at Wat Phra That Lampang Luang. Originally named “Wat Ku Kaew”, this revered temple is over 1,400 years old and was built to house the Buddha’s hair relics. It is also believed to be a sacred relic for people born in the Year of the Ox. After paying homage, step back in time with a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride along the Wang River, passing by historic sites like “Ban Ba Kao” and the old commercial area on Thip Chang Road.

Originally known as “Baan Chermsuk”, this establishment was formally the official residence of the first Lampang Governor and serves a regal menu blending savory and sweet dishes fit for royalty. Afterwards, venture to the city’s new landmark, the Big Buddha Daibutsu at Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan, about 30 minutes from the city, in Mae Tha District.
