A well-made bag or a favourite cotton jacket can carry something of the place it comes from. In Thailand, designers are working closely with regional artisans to keep those connections visible, from the shape of a handwoven accessory to the texture of undyed cloth. BWILD ISAN and Folkcharm take very different approaches to everyday style, but both give local skills room to develop. Their collections offer travellers a way to discover Thai craft through pieces made to be worn and used.
BWILD ISAN
A collaborative platform with a fun and bold character, BWILD ISAN, founded by Kanchana Shnatepaporn, brings together skilled designers and craftsmen from across Northeast Thailand. Its fashion-forward accessories – from handwoven Mudmee silk shaped by hand into intricate, sculptural forms, to structured leather pieces such as the Rooster Bag – combine local craftsmenship with a bold, contemporary streetwear sensibility, replacing rustic folk aesthetics with the raw energy of Thailand’s Isan region. Their Weaver Ant Nest bag won both the Prime Minister’s Export Award for Best Design and the DEmark Award in Accessories & Wearables at the 2026 Design Excellence Awards.
