The Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter is located in the old neighborhood of Kasem San 2 alley along Saen Saep canal. The key entity is the Jim Thompson House Museum exuding its traditional Thai beauty. The museum displays an art collection of the late James Harrison Wilson Thompson, who served as an operative in the Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S.), a predecessor to the CIA. Following World War II, he chose to remain in Thailand due to his love and passion for Thai silk and culture; whilst dedicating himself to revitalizing the Thai silk industry under the Jim Thompson brand. He is often referred to as the “Thai Silk King” and the brand is renowned worldwide.

In addition to the museum, art center and exhibition, inside the Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter is THE O.S.S. Room which is situated on the second floor of the Jim Thompson – A Thai Restaurant. Overlooking the lush museum garden, THE O.S.S. Room is a serene tea room during the day, but is transformed into clandestine realm of THE O.S.S. Bar when the sun goes down.

Highlight of THE O.S.S. Room is the finest afternoon tea, inspired by the adventurous spirit of Jim Thompson. The first and dearest set is the afternoon tea set for two, served in the red leather box sophisticatedly decorated with Jim Thompson silk. Tea selection here is of the best and highest quality, nicely blended to offer exquisite taste. They include the pristine Green Tea, Black Tea, and Oolong Tea. Our signature, however, is the Jim Thompson Exclusive Blend – Monsoon Tea, which is the perfect blend between Green Tea and mulberry leaves, with scent of flower from the North and diluted sweet taste from lychee.

After the exquisite tea is pick, here comes the 11 menus (4 savory dishes and 7 desserts). It is recommended to try the first 3 dishes – Seasonal Fish Ceviche in Kratong Tong, the exquisite seasonal fish ceviche served in delicate kratong tong cups; Moo Paloh Sourdough Tostada, the braised pork belly and marinated quail egg served with pickled piparas on a sourdough tostada; and Meang Kum – Korat, the traditional Thai one-size bite snack wrapped in boiled collard greens with coconut aromatic scent. The last savory dish is Pate with Sweet Chili Blueberry and Tuile, the pate served with the perfect balance of chili blueberry and delicate tuile.

For sweet bites, indulge yourself with Cream Biscuit, topped with tangy rosella jam and velvety clotted cream; Som Jeed Meringue Tart offering the burst of Thai flavors of the sweet and tangy Som Jeed; Double Formage Cheesecake, the creamy decadence of cheesecake baked with Seville Orange and chilli offering spice in the tip of the tongue; and Thai Custard Choux with Silk Mott Crust, adorned with a delicate silk Mott crust for a desirable texture.

More to offer are Cashew Nut Financier, the French rich and nutty goodness infused with a hint of nutmeg; Five-Spice Snickerdoodle, American-style cookies with ingredients of five warm spices but is great compliment when complimenting with tea; and Bean to Bar Chocolate crafted by PARADAi, Thailand’s leading crafted chocolate maker that offers exclusive chocolate filling that changes every day. That evening, we tried the rare Bulan Dun Mek, which was the afternoon tea experience hard to forget.
