It is often said that while the map shows where a traveler stands, it is the ritual that reveals who they are. As the season turns toward the renewal of spring, the focus shifts to those shared ceremonies that bridge the distance between cultures.

Spring 2026 unfolds as a global panorama of heritage, spanning the crystalline archives of Parisian high jewelry and the rhythmic, rain-summoning rituals of rural Thailand. These five curated experiences invite a deeper immersion into the stories and communal spirit that define a collective history.

The operatic majesty of Munich and the medieval alchemy of a French UNESCO site stand as poignant reminders that culture is no static relic. Instead, these gatherings represent a living, breathing legacy—one truly understood only through the presence of the heart.

THE WORLD IN A WEEKEND

Seoul, South Korea

May 9-10, 2026

Over one weekend, a city throws open its doors to over sixty nations. Born out of Seoul Citizens’ Day in 1996, the Seoul Friendship Festival has grown into a beloved cultural gathering where embassy pavilions, global performances, and traditional costumes sit alongside food from every corner of the world. Three decades on, the invitation still stands – and it is one worth accepting.

Connecting cultures through the timeless ritual of friendship. Fly to Seoul with Thai Airways!

PARISIAN LIGHT, SOUTHERN SKIES

Melbourne, Australia

June 12-October 4, 2026

What began as a grandfather’s Parisian workshop in 1847 became, in the hands of three ambitious brothers, a jewelry house the world couldn’t get enough of. The Cartier exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria – the largest staged in Australia – brings together more than 300 dazzling treasures, from coronation tiaras to Elizabeth Taylor’s necklace. Come for the sparkle and stay for the equally spectacular family story.

THE MEDIEVAL PULSE

Provins, France

June 13-14, 2026

Troubadours sing beneath ancient walls, the air is thick with the smell of roasting meats, and modern Paris feels centuries (rather than just an hour) away. For two days, the town of Provins – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – becomes its medieval self again, with jousting, costumed parades, and artisanal stalls found on every corner. Now in its 41st year, the Provins Medieval Festival recreates the legendary Champagne fairs that filled these same streets eight centuries ago – a tradition the town, quite understandably, has no intention of giving up.

Rediscover the magic of heritage. Fly to Paris and extend the journey to Provins with Thai Airways!

THE VOICES OF BAVARIA

Munich, Germany

June 18-July 31, 2026

Home to the world-famous Bavarian State Opera, Munich is a city where opera is a part of daily life – and never more so than during the Munich Opera Festival. For six summer weeks, historic stages are filled with performances of everything from baroque Handel to Wagner’s Ring Cycle. Be it at a grand premiere or a small concert, outdoors or indoors, centuries of musical tradition are given a beautiful voice each evening.

Inspired to connect with the musical legacy?. Fly to Munich with Thai Airways!

SPIRIT & SOIL

Loei, Thailand

June 20-22, 2026

It’s hard to take a ghost seriously when its face is made from a sticky rice steaming basket and coconut husks – but in Dan Sai District in northeast Thailand’s Loei Province, that’s exactly the point. Over the three days of Phi Ta Khon, groups of extremely colorful ghosts – or maybe villagers dressed up as them? – dance to loud country music in the streets, partly for fun, partly for a purpose. The festival is a form of rain prayer and symbolic cleansing during rice-planting season, and an attempt to keep evil spirits distracted, out of harm’s way.

Follow the sacred masks and rhythmic spirits into the vibrant soul of Loei. Fly to Thailand with Thai Airways!
