Make your first stop at Vivid Sydney, Australia’s largest annual festival. This year’s theme is “Vivid Sydney, Humanity”, which explores the true meaning of humanity and how we can make the world a better place. Throughout 23 days, from dawn till dusk, people all over the city will experience the wonders of art, combined with innovation and technology – interpreted into a spectacle of light, color, and sound. Marvel at more than 60 iconic landmarks in the city.

The most outstanding location is the 50-year-old landmark Sydney Opera House with its display of impressive art pieces that appear to glow and come to life, enabling visitors to feel as if they are one with the artworks.

Visitors can admire decoration of lights on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the musical water show at Circular Quay, and walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens decorated like a scene in a fairytale. You can also enjoy concerts from over 100 leading artists at various venues or join some of Australia’s top artists on stage for thought provoking talks to give you a new perspective on life. Vivid Sydney is a must-see destination of the year.

The Big Design Market

Shop till you drop for three days in the wonderland of handicrafts

The Carriageworks building in Sydney dating back more than 100 years ago will be filled with colors of happiness once again because this year it will serve as the venue for the Big Design Market, a so-called flea market of design work by more than 200 leading manufacturers and designers. This event is a perfect blend of art, crafts, and technology. A plethora of products on display will include household items, textiles, scented candles, skincare products, fashionable items, accessories, ceramics, stationary, lifestyle products, gadgets, products for pets and gifts for children.

• The Big Design Market is known as a flea market for high quality craftsmanship. Entrance fee is at 6 AUD per person (approximately 140 baht). Children under 12 years old get in free of charge.

To ensure that visitors can shop in a relaxed manner, there will be a dedicated food and drink corner waiting to welcome foodies from all over the world. So get ready to pamper your palates with award-winning Italian cuisine, hamburgers, ice-cream, homemade egg tarts, chocolate, fruit juice, coffee, wine, whiskey and craft beer to name a few. There will also be a special area for children to nurture their creativity, so that adults can enjoy walking around the event.

• Carriageworks was initially a locomotive construction and maintenance site, built between 1880 and 1889 until the mass strike of migrant workers (Great Strike of 1917). It was re-developed in 2007 into one of the most famous and important contemporary art organizations of Australia.
