While Thailand does not experience autumn as some other countries do, it boasts three stunning destinations where you can witness the vibrant foliage of autumn.

A Maple Wonderland at Phu Kradueng

Phu Kradueng National Park is a top choice for adventurers who enjoy hiking, mountain climbing, and camping in nature. Despite the challenging trails, the breathtaking views from the summit are well worth the effort, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From December to February, visitors can marvel at the Thai maple trees, known locally as “Kuam Dang” trees, transforming from lush green to vivid red. This rare and spectacular display is a sight to behold.

Ob Luang National Park and its Palette of Colors

Located in Chiang Mai Province, Ob Luang National Park is another excellent spot to view leaves changing colors from December to January. Spanning over 553 square kilometers and covering three districts — Chom Thong, Hot, and Mae Chaem — the park’s forest turns into a mosaic of yellow, red, orange, green, and brown hues. Key attractions include Mae Tia Waterfall, where you can camp overnight, and Khao Khad Canyon (The Kissing Mountains), which offers great photo opportunities and beautiful walking trails.

Tips: Ob Luang National Park is about 100 kilometers southwest of Chiang Mai.

The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang: A Seasonal Showcase of Autumn foliage

The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang, located in Fang District of Chiang Mai Province, is known for its seasonal beauty and agricultural experimentation of winter plants. From October to November, the area’s forests burst into shades of yellow, orange, and red. In January, the Thai Sakura blossoms, painting the landscape in shades of pink. The station also features a resort for relaxation and a shop offering local agricultural products.
