Indulging in a cup of aromatic coffee while immersed in nature’s tranquility, accompanied by a good book, has become a hallmark of the slow-living movement — a cherished ritual for many travelers. Yet for those whose passion for coffee runs deeper, we encourage embarking on a journey to the very land where your beloved beans originate. We promise that such an experience will not only delight your palate with exceptional, high-quality brews but also reward you with breathtaking landscapes that will leave an indelible mark on your soul.

Pha Hee Village, Chiang Rai Province

Relax with Coffee in the Idyllic Setting of a Valley Retreat

Pha Hee Village, nestled in the heart of a valley in Mae Sai District, is home to the Akha hill tribe community. The village offers stunning views of Doi Pha Hee from virtually every vantage point, while also providing an authentic glimpse into the rich local culture. Notably, Pha Hee is one of the first communities in Thailand to establish coffee plantations, making it a significant destination for both cultural exploration and coffee enthusiasts.

The village is also home to a variety of charming slow-life coffee shops and numerous coffee plantations scattered throughout the valley, each producing signature beans. Beyond Doi Pha Hee, Chiang Rai Province boasts other notable coffee-growing areas, including Doi Tung, Doi Chang, and Mae Chan Tai, all contributing to the region’s burgeoning coffee culture.

Renowned for its coffee, Ban Pang Hai is home to several coffee plantations worth exploring. Along the route to Thep Sadej Waterfall, visitors can admire a local coffee plantation, or stop by The First Valley Coffee Academy (Facebook: First Valley Coffee Estate), where a roasting house and café provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Baan Manee Pruek, Nan Province

A coffee village on the top of a hill

Nestled in a tranquil village surrounded by serene nature, this destination offers not only breathtaking views but also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional way of life of the Hmong people. Visitors can explore local crafts, such as weaving and silverwork, and savor authentic regional dishes. The village is also renowned for its sustainable agriculture, where villagers cultivate vegetables, winter flowers, and fruits like strawberries and peaches, alongside the prized coffee that has become a source of income. Among these, the renowned Manee Pruek Coffee stands out, celebrated for its unique identity, smooth flavor, and delicate aroma.

As you explore, indulge in a cup of authentic Manee Pruek coffee — its rich flavor and heartwarming qualities will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

The natural attractions here are as stunning as any other, with highlights including Doi Phueng, Pha Phueng Cave, and Pha Daeng cave, among others. For accommodations, visitors can choose from charming homestays, mountaintop houses, and camping options. If time permits, we highly recommend exploring the area on foot, as there are a variety of hiking trails to suit all levels — from leisurely paths to more challenging routes that span several days.
