The starting point was not simply to create mascots. It was to consider how THAI could make the travel experience more engaging and memorable for children, building a relationship with travelers much earlier in life. THAI carries over 19 million passengers annually, including more than 300,000 children aged two to twelve. While children do not purchase tickets, they heavily influence how families feel about a journey and help build lasting brand loyalty. More importantly, a positive childhood experience can become

a lasting emotional memory. A child who feels comfortable, welcomed and excited to fly with THAI today may grow into an adult who continues to choose the airline in the future. Rather than a single mascot, we created five traveling companions. Children have diverse personalities – some are bold, others quiet or observant. A group of friends allows every child to see themselves in at least one character, connecting travel with curiosity and discovery.

Each character was designed as a portrait of Thailand, drawing from regional history and folklore.

Panjaa (Ben), a fighting rooster from Phitsanulok, is named after Benjathamma (Buddhism’s Five Virtues) and represents principled courage as the bold leader. Iyara (Ice), a Thai elephant from Surin whose name is the classical Thai word for elephant, symbolizes strength, dignity, and care. Wila (Way), a Siamese cat from Ayutthaya, takes her name from the literary word for cat and embodies elegance, trade heritage, and diplomacy. Thui, a water buffalo from Phatthalung’s wetlands, carries a name familiar across rural Thailand, symbolizing patience, humility, and quiet strength. Finally, Rika, a clever myna bird from Songkhla named after the legendary Sarika bird, serves as the quick-minded strategist who perches on Thui’s head – symbolizing communication built on trust.
