Art is no longer a static archive—the world’s most compelling creators are refusing to stay inside the lines. In Venice, the Biennale Danza channels quantum physics to treat time and movement as a non-linear loop, while London’s Tate Modern dives straight into the obsession of “Fridamania,” peeling back the layers of Kahlo’s heavily commercialized image to find the raw, radical activist underneath. Meanwhile, Copenhagen is turning an industrial locomotive factory into Scandinavia’s busiest marketplace for fresh global talent, and Tokyo’s Shibuya district is staging a major correction to photo history, handing the lens over to seven decades of pioneering Japanese women. Down in Thailand, the boundary between fine art and subculture vanishes entirely as Southeast Asia’s tattoo underground takes over the main stage.
A TIME FOR DANCING
Venice, Italy
July 17 – August 1, 2026
In many respects, Venice is a city that lives in the past, where time does not exist. Connecting with this defining quality is the theme behind the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, which is inspired by physicist Carlo Rovelli’s ideas on the non-linearity of time. Over two weeks, audiences can watch world premieres from leading international companies, catch the legendary Molissa Fenley perform live at the age of 71, and join open workshops led by festival artists. All will explore the idea that time is, like dance itself, fluid and ever-changing.

FRIDA’S MANY FACES
London, United Kingdom
June 25, 2026 – January 3, 2027
By depicting her pain, passion, and politics on the canvas, Mexican painter Frida Kahlo became one of the most recognizable names, and faces, in the history of art. Frida: The Making of an Icon at Tate Modern will present her many complex selves – dedicated wife, intellectual, modern artist, political activist – through over 30 celebrated works alongside personal garments, jewelry, and photographs. The show also explores her extraordinary afterlife as a global brand, with over 200 objects exploring the phenomenon that is “Fridamania”.

Inspired by the artistic history of Frida. Fly to London with Thai Airways.
